An employee experience journey tailored to your employees

The Flow has a people-centric approach in which it maps out the objectives of your organisation and the people who work for it. For this it uses an employee experience journey. Managing partner Benny Van de Velde explains how that works.

Today, companies face major challenges in the area of hybrid working. Microsoft conducted research into the hybrid working paradox, which shows that 70% of respondents want to keep the flexibility they had during the coronavirus crisis. But just as many respondents also want more contact with their colleagues again.

So, alongside the pleasant workplaces they have set up in recent years, companies will also have to develop a digital variant where flexible workers can do the same things as at the office. One of the ways to do that is via an employee experience platform. That is already possible through an adjustment in Microsoft Teams. Most people use that application only for meetings. We can set up Teams as a hub by attaching additional applications to it so that it becomes multifunctional.

Employee experience journey

To set up the platform, we sit down with various stakeholders within your organisation. Together we work out an employee experience journey with the help of a discovery assessment. Through separate design thinking workshops we try to inspire you and capture what is going on. What is there in terms of applications, and how can we combine those with your journey?

Within this assessment we also look at your company’s digital maturity. It is the core of your user adoption and the journey we embark on. Through a digital maturity scan we want to get a picture not only of your organisation, but also of how digitally mature your employees are. The advantage of this is that you can provide training for your employees in a very targeted way. You can stimulate the more mature employees with teasers or a webinar. People who are less digitally inclined need more support. For them you will have to provide extensive training, in which The Flow can help you.

Microsoft Viva

In addition to the entire digital assessment of your organisation, the development of your employees is also important. Microsoft therefore designed Microsoft Viva, which currently consists of 4 modules.

  • Viva Connections is a kind of interactive dashboard. You can see it as an improved intranet that you can integrate into Microsoft Teams or into your own experience platform.
  • Viva Topics scans your environment and documents. Using artificial intelligence, it gives suggestions about certain topics. If you are looking for a particular subject, for example, it will suggest chats, documents or people who can give you extra info about the subject.
  • Viva Learning is a central place for learning within Microsoft Teams. It gives managers the possibility to offer various learning modules to their employees.
  • Viva Insights is the one that is very interesting for us at The Flow, because it provides insight into the behaviour of your employees based on data. Within Insights you have three important target groups. The personal assistant gives you an overview of the emails you receive and who your direct colleagues are. Here you can check who you haven’t spoken to for a long time. Managers will probably get more out of the organisation overviews in which they can check whether their employees can schedule enough focus time, how high-quality their meetings are, and whether there are enough alignment moments between managers and employees. Finally, Viva Insights also offers the possibility to use it as a maturity measurement by further expanding it with data sources. With data from your CRM system you can also measure the effectiveness of your sales. For managers who like to see their employees at the office, this is an alternative to keep a feel for the team while they work from home.

At The Flow we use Microsoft’s technology as a means to achieve and strengthen the objectives of the organisation and the employees. You can therefore see the employee experience platform as a piece of automation that gives you insights into your company. This way you can keep your employees satisfied and give them extra experiences, which is ultimately the goal of the entire employee experience journey.
